Book Depository Experience - UK to Manila 2019

Like everyone else, I've been curious about Book Depository but didn't have a chance to try it until last September 2019. While browsing in their website, I noticed that the prices were cheaper compared to books that I buy in Kinokuniya, Dymocks or FullyBooked. But before I ordered, I checked first if the books that I like are available in my local bookstore. Unfortunately, it wasn't available, even with their partner stores. One of the books would have to be placed on special order but the price is almost the same as these 3 books combined in Book Depository.

I ordered 3 books, all mystery novels by Japanese authors on Sep 23, 2019. 2 of the books were shipped on the same day while the third book was shipped the next day. I waited for almost 2 weeks before I sent an email to their customer support on Oct 8. They got back to me after 2 days and advised me to check with my local courier and to wait for a few more days. Just as when I was about to email them for the second time, I received the books right at my doorstep on the morning of Oct 22. I also DIDN'T pay for any additional fees. Yaaay! I really thought that I wouldn't received it and I wouldn't mind to have a refund. Anyway, my agony of waiting took almost a month!

As you can see in the pic, one of the packages was torn on one side but the book isn't damaged. Not sure though if one of the guys in customs peeked at one's inside. Overall, it was a satisfactory experience :) Maybe I'll order again in the future if my fave titles are on sale. Oh btw, there's one book by Seishi Yokomizo that I've been eyeing but maybe next year. As of writing, the site now accepts Php. Also every now and then they have discount promos and also Black Friday deals.
